about
Bob wrote this song before even traveling to America, when he eventually got the chance, he planned to re-write it based on what he experienced. However after the trip, and having performed the song several times while being there, the song had new meanings but not one word had changed!
lyrics
I broke my back a walking,
To Nashville Tennessee,
It’s been a long old journey girl,
Please lift this weight from me.
Walking down that long old road,
My Thumb was pointing out,
No trucks were stopping girl,
They just pull their horns and shout.
I broke my back a walking, to you.
I broke my back a walking, to you.
I walked right on down that road,
For many days and many a night.
The rain started pouring down,
The past is out of sight.
Well, I hope you’ll be waiting girl,
I’ve done all this for you,
I can’t wait to see your face,
And hold your body too.
I broke my back a walking, to you.
I broke my back a walking, to you.
And when I got to Nashville,
They told me you’d gone away,
Gone to start a new life,
Without me in your way.
I broke my back a walking, I broke my back a walking,
I broke my back a walking, for you. x2
Intrumental
I broke my back a walking,
To Nashville Tennessee,
It’s been a long old journey girl,
and now you’re not here for me.
It’s been a long old journey girl, and now you’re not here,
You’re not here; you’re not here, for me.
Two people who should have known better but unfortunately have been drinking on a number of seams and laying a tune to the dancing monkeys, but enough about us... how are you?
Niall is an amazing singer-songwriter we met in NY, and he kept us going! This album is all the other cool people we met when we were across there playing tribute to him. Take a listen! Drew & Bob
