about

This song appeared on our first EP (of the same name!), but after Jas and Chris joined the band (and added so much to the song) we felt we had no option but to re-record it to include them! (Listen out for Jas' Musical Saw...)

lyrics

I turn out your light
To wish you were gone,
But my mind lies still
On the growing dawn,
No time has passed
Now that I’m alone.

What dreamless nights
Have awoken me,
What fair-shaped mists
Have I longed to see,
What sworn words breathed
Of where I should be.

(Chorus)
What lonely nights girl
The things that I hear
It’s a lonely night girl
Oh the things I hear
It’s a long way home
But it ain’t too far from here.

Oh the wind is heavy
On my heart oh dear
The wind is strong
On me my dear
It’s a long way home
But it ain’t too far from here.

Minutes of faces
I have longed to see,
Breaking through my soul
Breaking through to me,
Yours is there
Its not the one I need.

While the moon is lit
And the corners shake,
My lungs are chilled
And the cold breath brakes,
I’m lonesome now
It’s enough for me to take.

(Chorus)

I can’t stop to think
Of the things we heard,
Not from one another
But from one another’s words,
I’ve been alone since
Leaving on that road.

There was a time
At the drop of a hat
I’d see beyond that way
And you’d be running back,
But these many years
Went and took everything I had.

(Chorus)
